"I became interested in the health and fitness industry at a pretty young age. At the age of 12, I was admitted into the hospital for pancreatitis. Besides genetics, this inflammation can be caused by a diet high in fats and sugars. Before this, I never knew my diet could have this big of an impact on my life. After meeting with doctors, trainers, and dieticians I knew I wanted to help people prevent these types of illness before they have to ever experience that type of pain.

Starting high school, I was very healthy. I had lost my "baby fat", my diet was far better than most kids my age, and I was active in every sport. However, once I started college I gained the Freshman 15+, was partying, wasn't working out, wasn't sleeping much, and I got sick with pancreatitis once again. 

Knowing that I could go years without pancreatitis simply due to my healthy lifestyle, I was determined to find a balance in college. I began weightlifting, teaching fitness classes, making my own food, and cutting out alcohol. I lost the Freshman 15 plus some. At this point, I joined CrossFit and started the paleo diet. 

Shortly after joining CrossFit, the high impact workouts plus teaching multiple fitness classes a day, I overdid it and caused a back injury. I had to stop all working out which led to me gaining some weight back. A few weeks later I graduated college and moved back home. 

Moving back home caused me to get out of my routine. I was eating whatever I wanted, was frequently skipping the gym, didn't have a social life, and was only working a few hours a week. I didn't know what to do with my time and I became very lazy. This laziness and lack of motivation caused me to go into a deep depression with high levels of anxiety.

Having depression, I began to sleep over 15 hours a day. I would wake up, maybe workout, eat a meal or two, and go back to sleep. The more this occurred, the more depressed and guilty I felt. This caused me to miss meals, workouts, and life in general. I gained 50+ pounds. After hitting the 50 pounds mark and experiences multiple episodes of pancreatitis, I knew I didn't want to live that way. Since then I have become a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. I am now on the journey of losing those extra pounds.
